Abstract
Socio-economic and market dynamics have led many cities to spread out, and people to acquire housing in the periphery, where costs are more affordable, but with the drawback that the conditions of the urban environment are mostly deficient, including endowment of its green spaces. For the present work, the three settlements that concentrate the highest density of child population (0-14 years) of the Monterrey Metropolitan Area were selected. The green space surface of each housing area was obtained, and the square meters of Effective Public Space were determined, as well as the proximity to the dwelling within a radius of 400 meters. Among the conclusions, it was established that these settlements are located on the periphery of the urban area and that the number of square meters of green space per inhabitant is less than the metropolitan average.
